When i was in Roseburg Or., one of the guys in the program had clearwire and a wireless router. Everyone on the ward (who had a computer) could access his
internet. Now every other time I've been there, no access was available. But, you could go down the street to a nice coffee shop that had free wifi. So, I
wouldn't say that internet access would be an issue. I've been inpatient 4 times in two different programs.
On another topic. I served with alot of women in Iraq. I know many of them did several tours. Now, that many are home. I have never seen any women in any groups or in any inpatient programs for combat vets with PTSD. And, I know for a fact that women were welcome and they had space for women in the dorm. So ....... what's the disconnect?? Why aren't the women warriors getting any help (that I have seen from any of the groups or programs I've been in) with thier PTSD / Combat Stress issues????

This may sound cruel, but, I have to say our waiting game toget into an IP is rediculous. Maybe certain ones you have to be rated with PTSD before you can go.
That way we wouldn't have to wait for 5-7 months.
I feel sorry for those of you going to get a rating, but alot of people are working the system. Good luck-Rip D Co 1/506th Inf. 101st AB VN Jan70-Dec70 11B40 The Currahees(We Stand Alone) |

Rip,
This is one of my pet peaves for sure!! There are soooo many playing the system just to get the 100% temp for the program since most of them are a minimum of 30 days. Just burns my a**! While those in dire straights have to wait to get in-- and let's face it-- some can't hold on that long and sadly don't live that long. Suicide. Some vets make it their "job" to go from program to program-- it is sick that the VA allows this! There is a member of the group that I go to that plays this game.It is all I can do to keep my mouth shut when he breaks the good news to the group that he was accepted once again into the program!! UGH!!! This'll be the 4th f''''ng time in the past year and a half. IT sucks!! Most of the guys in the group have asked for my help to verify stressors (find info on the internet) so I know what their stressors are-- sometimes I wish that I didn't know because I can see how they are riding those stressors and taking advantage of the system. Even tho it is not my call on what they are awarded, sometimes I feel as if I am an accomplace in even helping them get the info in order to file!! Oftentimes, I wish that my stressors were as benign as theirs so I could lead a half way normal life. So it is the VA that needs to change their policies as to what requiements are needed to be accepted into these programs-- either lower the number of days the program lasts (or break it into 2 sessions with a few days inbetween) or just continue payment as before one enters the program. (no 100% temp) The enrollment would drop tremendously fast and those that are needing to get in would not have to wait long. Wz
You can find something wrong with everybody if you want to search long enough

OK= TODAY a phone call came thru from TEXAS. Inpatient and switched me to Texas inpatient and it starts the end of decemenber and processed the paperwork today
for me. this paperwork that was done today Ive never done. Im tired of being switched all over the place but Texas made the call today to my therapist and
counselors and said its a go I can come end of december- its 2 months and they arranging travel ect. They not sure about Zeus going though as it might
interfere with my recovery treatment- cause its so intense-
at anyrate- as long as i can deal with life better- like Rip said- go into a walmart or walk into a store, keep walking or greet someone, ect. Im tired of this ptsd. Somethings gota change inside.

Is the one in texas geared toward women or is it a general type of group therapy with mostly men? Be careful that you go to a place that will actually help you
and not get you stranded in a state far away if you don't like it.. I would call the place and ask exactly what is their approach to therapy and what is
and is not optional. Remember palo alto is one of the two that is geared toward women. Good luck whatever you decide.

This is for women only- I have a full layout of the program of what it is about. Detail for detail and my room and board, and the program exaxtly what it
entails so there are no suprises when get there. I did live in Texas for three years before. Loved it actually- so that is nothing new. Better there than here-
lol temp wise.
So we had applied for many of the treatment centers and this was one of them and this is one that opend up faster than the rest. This one accepted as priority and the rest are long wait list. My dr recommened Texas, and Florida in the inital process. Anyway - the treatment center papers give full details of the treatments so there is no suprises when one gets there.
